Stabilo Point 88 Fineliner, No. 96

Stabilo Point 88 Fineliner, No. 96 — 0.4 mm line width, water-based ink.

The STABILO point 88 is one of the most recognisable fineliners in the world — orange body, white edge stripes, and a 0.4 mm line that has been the same for decades.

What sets it apart is the metal casing around the tip: it lets you run the pen along a ruler or inside a stencil without the tip splaying or the ink smearing. That makes it as much a drafting pen as a writing one — outlines, technical detail, colour-coded notes and underlining all sit well within it.

• 0.4 mm line width — fine enough for detail, dark enough to read
• Metal-encased tip: use it against a ruler or stencil without smearing
• Water-based, odourless ink with a ventilated cap
• Hexagonal body that will not roll off the desk
